Cell Phone Policy
Thanks to the cooperation of our students and the support of our parent community, we’ve seen a noticeable improvement in maintaining a focused and productive learning environment.
However, we do need your help with one particular area. We want to remind students that instructional time includes the time spent going to and from the bathroom or other locations during class.
This means that cell phones should remain in the classroom when students use the restroom or take a break.
If a student is found using their cell phone during this time, it will be confiscated and taken to the main office, where they will be able to pick it up at the end of the day.
We appreciate your continued support in reinforcing this expectation with your child. Thank you for helping us create a learning environment free from distractions. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to let us know!

Timberwolf Pageant
Our annual Timberwolf Pageant this school year will be on February 7th, 2025! This is an event ASB holds to fundraise for The Doernbecher's Children's Hospital and is something that directly impacts our community. We are opening up registrations on November 4th for teams of two that are willing to participate in the pageant. Typically, we do duos from specific clubs/organizations (ex. ASB wolves, robotics wolves, dance wolves, etc.) These teams will compete against each other by getting about 3 months to raise maximum funds and on the pageant day, show off some of their fun talents. Please consider getting involved and spreading the word to all of your friends, as this is for a great cause! Registration will close on November 22nd.
Calling all female high school students interested in engineering and medicine!
The female surgeons of Orthopedic + Fracture Specialists are excited to be volunteering with Perry Outreach Program (POP)) on Saturday, December 14th at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon.
The Perry Outreach Program is a free, one-day hands on experience for high school women who are interested in pursuing a career in engineering and medicine.
Students will hear from women leaders in these fields. They will also have the opportunity to try it for themselves by performing mock orthopedic surgeries and biomechanic experiments.
The Perry Initiative is currently seeking applicants for the upcoming event. Participants should be students who gender-identify as women or nonbinary and are in grades 10 and up.
Please pass along this information to folks who might be interested! Applications are due November 18th.
Additional information regarding the event and the application can be found here.
P.S. Did you know women make up less than 8% of orthopedic surgeons and about 12% of medical engineers? Increasing diversity in these fields can help improve care and create solutions for diverse patient populations.

News from Neighborhood Health Center:
How to Help Your Child Through Seasonal Mood Changes
When the seasons change and days get shorter, some people experience a period of
depression lasting a few months. The lack of sunlight and change in weather can cause
kids and teens to feel sleepier, have less energy, and have trouble focusing. This is
called Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). It affects people at a higher rate in the
Pacific Northwest than anywhere else in the country.
If your child is experiencing symptoms of SAD, there are many steps you can take to
help them. The first is talking about it and supporting them through their struggles.
- Encourage your child to get lots of exercise, especially outdoors
- Spend time together doing things that don’t require much energy, like watching a
movie
- Limit sugary snacks and soda
- Set a regular bedtime every day
Explain to your teen that SAD is seasonal and remind them that there are ways to help
how they are feeling. Talking about SAD is important to your teen feeling safe and
supported in their struggles.
NHC Tualatin High SBHC is available to help support you and your teen through mental
health struggles like SAD. Talk with our providers to figure out what works best for your
teen.
Call (503) 941-3180 to schedule an appointment at the SBHC to learn more. The
