TSTC Advisory Committee Resources

Welcome to our website, where we delve into the vital role of Program Advisory Committees as mandated by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) Guidelines for Instructional Programs in Workforce Education (GIPWE). In accordance with THECB guidelines, each program advisory committee is required to convene at least once a year. However, when pioneering new programs, the advisory committee must meet a minimum of two times during the planning phase to actively contribute to the design and development process.

Advisory committees play a pivotal role in fostering meaningful collaboration between academia and industry. They serve as a cornerstone in the creation and refinement of programs, offering invaluable insights into current and future occupational skills, knowledge, and goals. This ongoing collaboration ensures that graduates are equipped with up-to-date skills aligned with industry standards, positioning them for success in their chosen fields. As an integral component of Texas State Technical College’s (TSTC) mission to "Place More Texans in Great-Paying Jobs," advisory committees facilitate cross-collaboration between TSTC and business partners, crucial for establishing relevant curricula to train highly skilled technicians.

Our commitment extends to the students who directly benefit from advisory committee contributions. We recognize the importance of ensuring that our graduates are not only competitive in today's complex job market but are also equipped to continually learn on the job and become productive members of society. This commitment is shared with our employer partners in business and industry, emphasizing the symbiotic relationship that contributes to the success of our students and the fulfillment of our mission.
