Feeding Our Own with Determination
Here is how you can help immediately.
Contact a locally owned area restaurant. Visit MooreEatsAndTreats.com (Click Here) for a complete directory of websites, menus and phone contacts. Support these courageous businesses by ordering take-out or delivery, and (this is the key step) PURCHASE A GIFT CARD. This extra transaction delivers additional revenue to the owners AND it leaves you with a gift to pass along to brighten someone’s day. This is certainly the time for small but powerful gestures. Please consider buying a second gift card and giving it to a medical provider, first responder or other critical provider.
Click Here to enter the name of the restaurant or café you patronized, the dollar value of the gift card and some information about yourself.
Please post a selfie with the gift card. Use #spreadthebread. Post on your social media, to @mcncgop on Instagram and to the restaurant’s social.
What happens next is a game changer! FOOD, an outreach led by Community in Action, will match dollar-for-dollar the value of every gift card registered up to $5,000.
In the days ahead, FOOD will donate these matching funds to the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina. The Food Bank is the essential hub and starting point for numerous ongoing food relief drives across our region, and these drives and their tireless volunteers are meeting more demand than they’ve ever seen.
Amazon sells gift cards, too. But now is the time to EAT LOCAL and join the fight to keep local restaurants alive, and to tackle hunger as more are hungry! A few restaurants offer gift card purchases on web sites. Almost every business will gladly sell you a card over the phone and include it with a take-out or delivery order. Buy one every time you place an order!
