Grading Policy

Students will be graded on participation, use of time/materials, and following project directions.

During the weekly art class, the students are assigned an art project that sometimes may take up to 3 to 4 weeks to complete. Each project is assigned a value of 25 points.

TSC Require that all grade levels receive a letter grade.


Grading is as follows:

  • MASTERY: A: 100-90

Student:

- used the elements and principles of design to create the assigned art projects

- follows instructions given by the teacher, which demonstrates their understanding of the elements, principles, and the techniques being taught.

-creatively develops his/her own method of completing the assignments

-uses the art tools correctly and artistically.


  • APPROACHING MASTERY: B: 89-80

Student:

-uses the elements or principles of design with the prompting of the teacher.

-uses the teacher's examples as a tool for understanding when creating their art work.

-completes the assignments on time.

-uses the art tools as instructed.


  • DEVELOPING MASTERY: C: 79-70

Student:

-occassionally uses the elements and principles of design only with the prompting of the teacher.

-uses the teacher's examples and other student's assistance to complete the assignments.

-uses the art tools as instructed.


  • NEEDS TIME TO MASTER: D: 69-60

Student:

-does not use the elements and principles of design.

-repeatedly wants the teacher and other students to assist in the development and completion of their art assignments.

-does not use the art tools as instructed.

  • F: 59-0

*PLEASE NOTE: Art Grades will only be once per semester. Therefore, your child will receive an Art grade after Semester 1 and after Semester 2.
