WELCOME TO MRS. MENGLER"S
4 / 5 MULTIAGE CLASS
Dear Parents,
Welcome to my class! I’m excited about beginning my seventh year at Wea Ridge in the 4/5 multiage classroom! It is a great opportunity to develop new strategies and create a unique classroom environment. This year marks my 18th year teaching elementary school. I have taught Kindergarten, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade, and the 4th/5th multiage. Within this diverse and differentiated environment I think you’ll see remarkable growth in your child’s independence, academic skills, and critical thinking. I’m ready to go!
I live on the north end of Tippecanoe county in the Battle Ground/Harrison school areas. My children have all gone through those schools and have received excellent educations from incredible teachers. All four of them were in the High Ability program at their schools and the organization skills, attention to detail, higher thinking abilities, and variety of project based assignments inherent in the program helped to prepare them for the successes they are experiencing as they go through life.
My oldest son, Adam, is 31 years old and is living and working as an attorney in New York City. He loves to travel and has been to at least 15 foreign countries.. My daughter, Maya, is 29 and lives in Indianapolis with her husband, Grant. She works in Brownsburg with autistic children at Kids Count ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) Therapy Center. Grant is a golf pro and teaches classes at Purdue, as well as private lessons. He also is part owner of a 24/7 indoor golf facility. Our second son, Matt, lives in Battle Ground in a house/mini-farm that we purchased and are hoping to flip. He works 4-5 days a week remodeling houses with my husband, Mark, and is trained as a sound engineer. He works another 2-3 days a week at a recording studio in Indianapolis. He also is independently producing and distributing musical talent in the area. He just turned 27 years old. We also have another daughter named Alia who is 19. She is beginning her Sophomore year at Purdue and will be living in an on-campus house with 3 roommates this year. She is planning to major in Business and Marketing. She has a job handling social media for a local business; Sarah Parent Photography, and is a Student Marketing Director for Follett bookstore on campus.
We have lived in West Lafayette for 25 years after relocating from the Chicago suburbs. We love the accessibility of both Indy and Chicago as well as the convenience of Purdue with all of its resources. Mark is self-employed as a remodeler and I spent many years working in customer service and management positions before deciding to finish the degree I had put on hold with the start of our family. I graduated from Purdue in 2007 and finished the coursework needed to add the Gifted, Talented, and Creative endorsement to my teaching license a few years ago.
I intend to build a classroom culture that is a community of support and partnership while attending to your child’s individual educational needs. We will spend time every day working on your child’s social emotional skills as well as his or her academic growth. I believe that it is important for students to understand that their parents and teachers are working together to achieve the best possible environment for learning. Thank you in advance for your involvement and assistance in making this the best year ever!
Please always feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Michelle Mengler
