My job as one of the counselors at Klondike is to be a good listener for the boys and girls if they have something on their mind that they would like to talk about with someone. We talk a lot about feelings, and we often talk about changes--changes at home, at school, with friendships, etc. Children can refer themselves, and I also take referrals from parents, teachers and other staff members. Please know that I am available to consult with parents or grandparents who are raising their grandchildren.
I sometimes work with small groups of children who may be dealing with similar issues--friendship, social skills, being new at a school, grief and loss, and so on.
I also go into classrooms to do lessons about various topics such as the required bully-prevention and personal safety lessons. Teachers may request lessons on topics that they think would be helpful in their classrooms.
I invite you to contact me if you have any concerns about your child/grandchild. We can put our heads together and see what we can do to help make things better.
My number is 772-1605, and my email address is firstname.lastname@example.org. Please feel free to get in touch!
