Kindergarten Expectations
The overall evaluation for Kindergarten focuses on student progress made based on the unique learning styles and needs of young children. A range of interactive experiences will provide practice of skills in the following areas.
Intellectual skills that promote thinking, communication, problem-solving and decision making.
Physical skills that control motor functions
Social-emotional skills that develop moral values, promote appropriate social behaviors and self-identity
Methods to monitor individual progress will include report card skills testing, checklists, files of children’s work and informal assessments. All monitoring methods correlate with the Indiana Academic State Standards. Parents will be kept informed of pupil progress by specified fall and spring parent conferences, report cards at the end of each grading period and additional conferences as needed.
