Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! I hope you and your child feel prepared and excited to begin this new academic year!
I graduated from Purdue University in December of 2016 with my degree in Early Childhood Education and Exceptional Needs and have begun courses for my Master's Degree in Elementary Education - Literacy and Reading Instruction. Upon graduation from Purdue, I came to Dayton to teach as a long term substitute in second grade. After meeting the kids and working with the teachers here, I couldn't wait to come back. I am so excited to be back at Dayton for my first full year of teaching.
The idea of creating a better individual out of each student is what makes me so passionate about teaching. I hope that our classroom in Room 21 is full of leaders and learners - always striving to be their best.
Parent communication is very important to me. We need to work as a team to ensure that what your child receives at home enhances what your child receives at school and vice versa. I will send home individual notes throughout the year in your child's folder. Please be sure to check his/her folder daily for important communication! Any time there is a change to your child's daily schedule (leaving for an appointment, change in transportation home, ...) please write a note and send it in your child's folder. If a change is made during the day or a note didn't make it to school, please call the school and they will send the message my way.
Please feel free to contact me throughout the year in whatever format you would like. I would much rather communicate often and early than too late to make an important change for your child.
