Marce Petroccio

Head Coach

Marce Petroccio joined the Trumbull Eagles in 2018 after 25 years as the Head Coach at Staples High School with an overall record of 210 wins and 72 losses. Under Coach P’s tutelage, Staples won the FCIAC Championship in 1997, 2003, 2009, 2011 and 2012 and won the Class M State Championship in 2002 and the Class L State Championship in 2004 and 2005. 

For his excellence in coaching, Petroccio has received numerous awards and accolades. He was named the 2002, 2003, 2009 and 2011 FCIAC Coach of the Year. In 2013 he was named one of the top USA Today's Coach of the Year. In 2004 Petroccio was honored by the New York Giants as the Lou Rettino High School Football Coach of the Year. In 2007, Petroccio was honored by his peers by being named the Coach of the Year by the Connecticut High School Coaches Association.

In 2014 he was inducted into the Connecticut High School Hall of Fame, the FCIAC Hall of Fame, and the Greater Bridgeport Hall of Fame.

Petroccio  has also served on the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference Football Committee. Petroccio attended Trumbull High School, where he played tight end and defensive end for the legendary Jerry McDougal, including a perfect 11-0 senior campaign where the team was ranked number one in the state and New England. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education at Southern Connecticut State University where he played for former UConn Head Coach Paul Pasqualoni who also gave him his first opportunity in coaching in 1982 at Western Connecticut State University. After serving as linebackers and defensive backs coach at Western Connecticut Petroccio spent three years as an assistant at Cheshire High School under current Boston College Head Coach Steve Addazio. In 1993 Petroccio assumed the head coaching position at Staples.

Coach P resides in Ridgefield with his wife Julie and daughters Gianna and Aleah.

Brendan Moore

Offensive Coordinator / Receivers Coach  

Coach Moore has been an offensive coordinator in the FCIAC for 10 years, serving in that role at Trumbull high school since 2018. The 2021 (3rd in state ) and 2022 (6th in state) teams finished in the top 10 in CT in passing offense.  2023 team finished in top 10 in CT in rushing offense. Brendan previously was the OC at Ridgefield High School where he led the team to the 2016 LL state championship game and before that at Masuk where he won a state championship as an assistant. He has been the position coach for 10 all state wide receivers in his career. 

He resides in Trumbull with his wife Cari and sons Jackson and Cooper.

Jesse McCray

Defensive Coordinator 

Jesse McCray joined the Trumbull Eagles in 2018 after 25 years as an assistant for Coach Petroccio  at Staples High School. Coach McCray served multiple roles as the offensive and defensive line coach, special teams coordinator and as the defensive coordinator in his final season. As a member of Coach P’s staff, Staples won the FCIAC Championship in 1997, 2003, 2009, 2011 and 2012 and won the Class M State Championship in 2002 and the Class L State Championship in 2004 and 2005. 

In 2003 Coach McCray was named the Class MM Assistant Coach of the year. Prior to coaching at Staples, Coach McCray started his coaching career at Danbury High school under Hall of Fame Coach Doug Morrell. As the offensive line and defensive coach he  helped guide them to an Fciac Championship in 1990 and Coach McCray was inducted into the Danbury High School Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022.

In addition to coaching football, Coach McCray also serves as the Head Women’s Track and Field Coach. Coach McCray’s teams have earned numerous Fciac and State Titles and in addition he has earned numerous honors of The Fciac Track coach of the year he was also named the U.S. Track and Field Coaches Association Coach for Connecticut in the Year in 2014.

As a player Coach McCray was a 3 year letter winner and Senior Captain at Branford High School. He then went on to play for Head Coach Paul Pasqualoni and Assistant Coach Marcellino Petroccio at Western Connecticut as a defensive lineman where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Social Science.In addition to being a 4 year letter winner Coach McCray was the 1988 Brian Blanchard Award recipient for Academic and Athletic Excellence at Western Connecticut State University.

Coach McCray resides in Hamden with his wife Michele and two sons Gabriel and Christopher.

Joined the Trumbull staff in 2022 as the Offensive Line Coach. 

Previously coached at Univ. of New Haven in 2018 & 2019 as a Tight Ends Coach and Director of Operations

Also is an assistant wrestling coach for the Class LL State Championship Team in 2023

Continued his football career at the University of New Haven. With the Blue and Gold, Voytek earned five All-American accolades, three-time Northeast-10 Offensive Lineman of the Year and was named to an NE10 All-Conference team each of his four years. Voytek went on to signed a free agent contract with the Buffalo Bills in 2017
