Xing "Wake" Xu, Head Coach

Coach Wake started fencing at the age of 13 and was a member of the Chinese National Men's Epee team. Coach Wake was also the head coach for the Chinese Junior and Cadet National Epee Teams (men's and women's). Under his tutelage, the Chinese Cadet Men's Epee team won the Asian Championship in men's team event in 2019, in addition to numerous international individual and team titles. Coach Wake brings decades of experience of developing youth fencers into international champions.

Sorah Shin, Epee Coach

Coach Sorah started fencing in high school and trained under four-time Soviet National Champion Tigran Shaginian. Coach Sorah's unique, personable approach to developing youth fencers has been highly acclaimed and her students have consistently ranked in the top 10 in the nation, including receiving a Coach's medal for the National Championship title in Y12 men's epee.

Sean Yao, Assistant Coach

Coach Sean is a Prevot Coach for Epee, certified by US Fencing Coaches Association. He is an A-rated competitive fencer and represented USA at the 2022 Pan American Youth and Veteran Championships. He was also a member of Team USA for modern pentathlon and competed in the 2018 World Cup. Coach Sean has a PhD in Electrical Engineering and a JD, both from UC Davis, and is a seasoned patent attorney with over 20 years of experience.
