Read for Summer Fun!
"When students get a three-month reprieve from school work, it can be easy to let learning fall by the wayside. Advocates say summer reading keeps young minds sharp."
"One way the library is promoting reading is through a new reading app called Open eBooks. Students can download free books for up to eight weeks."
Book Award Reading Programs
DCF Award and DCF Challenge @ CAES
First given in 1957, the Dorothy Canfield Fisher Children's Book Award has honored quality literature for children for 50 years now. Each year Vermont students in Grades 3-8 read books from the current 30 titles nominated. After reading at least 5 books from the list, they vote for their favorite titles in April picking the winner of the award.
Read as many DCF books as you can! Read all 30 titles!
The Red Clover Award promotes the reading and discussion of the best of contemporary picture books in nearly all of Vermont's elementary schools. Each year over 20,000 K-4 grade students read the ten nominated books. They then vote for their favorite title, picking the winner of the Red Clover Award.
