Hiking Resources
Hiking is a great way to spend your time in the outdoors. It’s also a good way to get your heart pumping for some exercise or to test your limits. Some hikes are just a few hundred feet while others are many miles, but all can pose potential hazards if not carefully considered. Take some time to research your destination and its terrain so you can better prepare to have a memorable experience and fun while exploring. Below we have included some resources to help you find hiking opportunities in the Bay Area.

This is an easy to use map software for your smartphone and computer which is great for finding new urban and outdoor hiking opportunities. An account is free and lets you use the mobile app, but is not necessary to use the web app. The coverage of the East Bay Area was improved in the summer of 2020 by Troop 941.
Hiking Project:
This is a curated hiking software for both smartphones and computers. This has more detailed topographical maps and trail information that is better for longer or more difficult hikes. The app works offline using downloaded maps. An account is not necessary for either the app or webpage.
