Celio in the Rainforest: Célio de Carvalho
Celio in the Rainforest is a music workshop for the youngest children. The children are taken on a journey with exciting sounds from nature in the Brazilian rainforest. You can hear the sound og rain, wind and animals, and the children can join in playing with rhythms, dancing and singing.
Célio de Carvalho is from Rio de Janeiro, and has lived in Norway (and Brazil) since 1983.
Celio in the Rainforest is particularly suitable for children aged 0-3.

The grateful birds: Kristina Murdin and Ove Engen Willums
Ove and Kristina tell the story about "The grateful birds", and sing songs alone and together with the children. An exciting performance about the birds in the forest, kind people in the village and robbers who steal treasures at night.

Chinese Cultural and Educational Association in Trondheim
Join us and experience one of the four great inventions in China - papermaking. They have made paper in China for almost 2000 years. In this workshop you get to make your own paper!

The Language and Culture Festival presents three different countries that want to do different craft activities on Children’s Art Exploration Day.
Lithuanian association in Trøndelag Baltai
The workshop from Lithuania invites children to learn the art of making straw gardens, which is listed on UNESCO's Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. You get the chance to prepare the straws, poke holes and tie them together into beautiful shapes - and make a small straw gardens that can be hung on the Christmas tree.
In addition the children can take part in a "National doll workshop". In this activity they get to explore the beautiful tradition of national costumes. The children can choose colours, regions and design their very own National costume.
The workshop is for all children. The smallest with an adult.

The Language and Culture Festival presents three different countries that want to do different craft activities on Children’s Art Exploration Day.
Kenyans in Trondheim
At Kenya's decorating station, children can unleash their creativity and create colorful animals and figures inspired by Africa's rich wildlife, using authentic African fabric. In the Swahili Safari Language Corner, they will learn the names of the "big five" safari animals, such as lion (Simba) and elephant (Tembo), through play and engaging exercises.
An exciting safari video takes them on a virtual journey of discovery through Africa's amazing landscapes and wildlife. Finally, the children can design their own bracelet in the pearl workshop, and take home a handmade souvenir from the day.

Quetzalli is a folk dance group with women from Mexico and Latin America. They invite your family to experience Mexican culture through dance, music and colorful costumes!
On Children’s Art Exploration Day, they will hold five interactive dance workshops where both children and adults can learn the rhythms and movements that make Mexican folk dance so unique.

Ringve Musikkmuseum - Come and drum!
Join us and play the djembe! Learn simple drum tricks and make cool rhythms!
At Ringve Musikkmuseum there are several thousand instruments, and among them we find the djembe. The djembe drums came originally out of West Africa, and the way they are made means that you can get a lot of different sounds out of a single instrument.

On a walk in the forest we meet many kinds of animals. Birds chirping, a fox prowling around, and isn't there a badger over there? Join in the movements, rhythms, song and dance about animals we meet in the forest!
Rockheim is the national museum for popular music, with "The children's hour" and activities for young and old every weekend, as well as exciting family programs during holidays!

Come over and meet Trondheim Maritime Museum's own ship rat named Sivert. He brings his grandfather with him, and Sivert's grandfather is like the vast majority of sailors, he loves to tell sailor tales.

There are big birds and small ones. Birds with lots of colorful feathers and long legs. They chirp in the top of the trees. Join Trondheim Kunstmuseum and make your own bird with lots of different textiles, materials and sequins. What does your bird look like?

Art exhibition: Kulturskolen
Children and youths from visual arts at Trondheim kulturskole are creating an exhibition for us with the theme "The forest".
Kulturskolen has taken part in Children’s Art Exploration Day every year since we started in 2011. We look forward to seeing the wonderful works on display on the first floor of the library.
The exhibition is open all day.

The Flying Seagulls
In recent years, The Flying Seagulls have been a regular feature of Children’s Art Exploration Day. They are visiting us this year too, and they come to play, do magic tricks, joke around and make us laugh.
The Flying Seagulls Norway branch is an organization that, among other things, visits refugee camps around the world. At the camps they act as a point of light for the children who live there, through laughter and play.

PopUp: Ishan Momand
PopUp: Small feet - strong roots
This year you will be able to experience someone suddenly appearing and performing right in front of you. These are our PopUp features. PopUp has no advertising. They just show up, perform, and leave.
As usual, Kulturskolen will contribute with their skilled students to do PopUp.
Our MOVE artists are also doing PopUp this year. They are Jackline and Christopher from Malawi, and Marcelo and Samuel from Brazil. MOVE (Musicians and Organizers Volunteer Exchange) is an exchange program for young musicians and organizers between Norway, Malawi, Mozambique and Brazil.
Ishan Momand is an Afghan musician who sings folk melodies and poems (ghazals), combining traditional music with Sufi poetry. He plays a variety of instruments, including robab, tablas, tanbur and harmonium. Ishan has performed around the world, sharing the music of Afghanistan with audiences in the US and Europe.
Small feet - strong roots is a Ukrainian voluntary organization that runs a children's theatre, activities for families and for seniors. On Children’s Art Exploration Day, they will show excerpts from "Let me get wings" which will show how important each one of us is and how it is necessary to have support nearby, and at the same time be supportive for someone else.
The Flying Seagulls will also contribute with PopUp at various locations throughout the day.
