Attendance/Bussing
If your child is ill and won’t be attending school, please email attendance@tricounty.k12.mn.us before school begins for the day and/or e-mail Mrs. Alme. Also, please send an email or a note whenever your child is not riding the bus or is riding a different bus. It is very important that the bus drivers know if your child is riding the bus or not.
eLearning
In the event of inclement weather, watch for announcements from the school regarding the switch to E-Learning. Announcements will be sent in the same way as other messages—by phone call, text, email, social media, etc.
Maternity Leave
As many of you may already know, I will be taking maternity leave starting the beginning of January. My last scheduled day before taking leave is Thursday, January 5th and I plan on returning in March (if everything goes as planned.)
When I'm on maternity leave, Elaine Ruud will be the long-term substitute teacher. As of Friday, January 6th, she'll take over my class.
Mrs. Ruud is a highly qualified, certified, retired teacher. She is looking forward to working with your child to achieve his/her highest potential. She plans on using a variety of teaching strategies to create an engaging learning environment to meet each child's unique learning style. I have been working closely with Mrs. Ruud to make this transition as seamless as possible.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact either myself or Mrs. Ruud.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Alme

Scholastic Sponsorship
I am asking for people to sponsor each one of my students so they can get a free book each month. My students love getting their books and look forward to making their book pick each month. I was very thankful to have such helpful friends and family in the past and would like to continue this tradition in Karlstad!
Here’s how you can make a difference:
- Each month, Scholastic Book Club fliers are sent home for students & their families to purchase books if they would like. Unfortunately, not all of my students and their families are able to purchase books.
- Scholastic has books every month that are just $1-$2. I would LOVE for each of my students to be able to bring home a new book each month during the school year (September to May).
***Please message or comment if you would like to be a book sponsor! You are a huge help in getting my students to fall in love with reading! Thank you so much!
