3rd race weekend at Snetterton since joining JSCC so feeling confident with this track.
Friday:
I got going well on the Friday however I had my progress halted after what felt like wasted sessions in traffic with a complete lack of consistency due to issues with third gear however after some repairs by Jeakins Race Preperations I was optimistic about Saturday.
Saturday:
Qualifying: set consistent times but was struggling to get my times down as I was making small mistakes every lap in the final sector and ended up losing a few tenths there each lap. I qualified 7th for race one and with a nearly identical second fastest lap I was 4th for race two.
Race one : got a great start from 7th and moved up to 4th place and had a couple good battles improving my confidence overtaking on fast and technical corners. Mid way through the race I out braked myself into turn one and got a bit sideways and I re joined the circuit in 7th but took advantage of the battle going on in front of me allowing me to finish in 5th.
Sunday:
Race two: got another good start this time from 4th place and I was leading the race into turn 2 but after a racing incident on the first lap I was in 3rd and under pressure from the car behind. I didn’t have good pace as I was struggling with lots of understeer and dropped down to 4th. I began to get used to the understeer and I improved my consistency and pace but it was too late to make a difference and I finished 4th.
Overall not a bad weekend no podium but I got good enough points to move up to third in the championship and I feel I have improved my race craft.
It’s back to Silverstone in just over two weeks where we will be doing the other half of the circuit - hopefully I can get similar results to the last time we were there …
