Only the 2nd time I've been to Knockhill and hoping to do better than our 2021 visit with more experience and looking forward to tackling the anti closckwise race. Also a weekend of celebrations for my 16th birthday, not one but two birthday cakes thank to team mates in Jeakins Race Preperations and mum.
Friday:
Great day testing with an Ards instructor based at Knockhill who passed on lots of knowledge and talked us through the track during our track walk, also got some karting thrown in during our down time.
Saturday:
I definitely had the potential to have qualified higher however after the red flags I was un able to improve my lap due to constant traffic, I got one clear lap at the end but I pushed too hard ruining the lap.
Race 1 Anti-clockwise I got a good start up into 5th where I stayed for the first couple of laps but I made a mistake running wide just before the straight dropping me back to 6th. At some point during the race I got a puncture and I didn’t have the pace to catch back up to the leaders but held 6th place.
Sunday:
I qualified lower than I expected as I felt comfortable in the car and It didn’t feel like I was doing much wrong yet I was a second of the pace.
In between the qualifying and the race after watching some footage @alfie.jeakins.754 pointed out where I could find some time in the first sector and I was aiming to finish around 6th.
Race 2 Clockwise I got a good start again and got up to 9th through the first few corners. After a few battles and staying consistent enough to take advantage of others mistakes I finished 7th.
I was hoping for better results at knockhill but I just didn’t have the pace to be at the front, I know its there and I'm still holding onto 3rd in the championship.
