Veteran's Day is a time to recognize and honor those who have served in the military. It acknowledges the sacrifices of those who have served the country.
Veteran's Day was formerly known as Armistice Day and originally intended to honor the end of World War I. This was celebrated from November 11, 1918, until June 1, 1954.
At this time, the day was officially named Veteran's Day. The change was the result of World War and the Korean War. This way, all members of the military who served in more than World War I could be acknowledged and recognized.
