Women’s Equality Day each August 26th to commemorate the adoption of the 19th amendment to the constitution. The amendment gave women the right to vote. President Nixon designated Augut 26th as Women’s Rights Day. It was later changed to Women’s Equality Day in 1973 when Bella Abzug a resolution to call it Women’s Equality Day. Every President after Nixon has issued a proclamation for the August 26th day of celebration.
