Día de los Muertos
Día de los Muertos
Dia de los Muertos is a two-day Mexican holiday that honors and remembers the deceased. Families welcome back the souls of the deceased for a celebration with food, drink, and parties. The physical and spiritual realms join together to allow a time for those living to reunite with the soul of the deceased for these two days.
The most recognized images of this holiday are skulls and skeletons. These can be seen in food, face painting, and decor. The images are happy symbols and not designed to scare people as this is a happy time of celebration. As people greet each other during this time period, they can be heard saying, “Feliz dia de los muertos!”
