Autism Awareness Day/Month

The National Autism Society started to work to bring awareness of autism in the 1970s. They wanted to ensure that those with autism were able to achieve the highest quality of life. The original celebration started in 1992 with a week-long event called National Autistc Children’s Week. This later evolved into the current month-long event called National Autism Awareness Month.

April 2nd is designated World Autism Day. This day as well as the month-long celebration are designed to bring an awareness of autism to everyone. It also promotes the acceptance of individuals who are autistic.
