Year Two Weekly Update

Review (This week)

English : We have been learning how to make a mummy! We have looked at instructions and the step-by-step process.

Maths : We have finished learning about statistics. We enjoyed making our tally charts and bar charts.

Science: We have finished our module on Light and Dark with some exciting experiments.

How to make a mummy!

This week, we have enjoyed learning the mummification process. We acted out the process through drama and then, one lucky person, was selected to be wrapped up in tissue!

Valentine's Day and Disco

Investigating light

We had fun finishing our topic of 'Light & Dark' by carrying out some investigations.

Try asking your child if they know what these words mean:

  • transparent
  • translucent
  • opaque
  • reflection
  • refraction

keeping fit and healthy!

Homework :

Maths: Following a set of instructions, for example a recipe for a cake or a smoothie.

English: Week 6 spellings

We have kept reading books that are not from the library, as we are logging them. Please read any books that you have at home over the half-term break. Thank you for your patience and cooperation. You will receive new reading books after half term.

Notices:

  • School will be closed from Monday 18th to 22nd of February due to Half-Term break and will resume on 25th of February.
  • Please send your child into school with their hats, water bottles and folders
  • Please be reminded about the importance of children wearing safe and appropriate footwear to school. It states in the parent handbook that 'open-toed sandals, flip flops or crocs are not allowed'
  • The Boonchoo foundation for children with special needs are desperate for donations of items such as clothes, toys and books. If you have any items that you no longer need or wish to donate, please bring them along to school.


PE is on Monday and Thursday (they may wear their kit all day).

Swimming is on Tuesday (please label their kit, goggles and cap with their name).
