Year Six Weekly Update

Review (This week)Â
English : This week in English we finalised creating our debates and spent lots of time practising and improving our orating skills before performing a live debate in front of Year five.
Maths : Â We have moved onto our new topic in maths this week: fractions. We have learnt the most effective way to simplify various fractions by exploring equivalent fractions.
Topic : We have been exploring how creative workers, or artisans, were transformed into artists during the Renaissance. We focused on how many prolific painters of the era began to introduce perspective into much of their artwork.
Preview (Next week)Â
English : We will be exploring a range of poetry next week and creating a poem of our own. We will also be focusing on a variety of texts to boost our reading and comprehension skills.
Maths : We will be learning how to simplify and order a range of fractions and use them in calculations.
Science: We will be exploring food chains and how energy is transferred through through them.
Homework :Â
The children have written down a new set of eight words in their spelling books ready for our spelling test next Thursday
