Year One Weekly Update

Review (This week)
English : This week we have been learning how to answer comprehension questions and how to use the text to support our answers.
Maths : We have been using the skills we learnt in term 1 to answer a variety of questions and solve problems.
Science : We started our new topic of 'Materials'. We started looking at different materials and what objects are made from these materials.
Preview (Next week)
English : We will be starting to read our new book 'Little Red Riding Hood'.
Maths : We will be looking at place value of numbers from 0-50.
Science : We will be comparing different materials and looking at why we use specific materials for different objects.

We have made a great start to the new term. It is clear that all the children have been practising their reading and writing over the holidays so thank you parents for continuing to support your children with this. Maths homework will now be optional so if you would like maths homework to be set for your child please let us know by email or come and speak to either of us.
