Week Three

Year One Weekly Update

Monday 10th September - Friday 14th September

Review (This week)

English : We have learnt 'The Three Little Pigs' this week and have come up with our own actions to help us remember the story. We also sequenced the story and wrote key words about each section.

Maths : We have been looking at different ways to represent numbers up to 10. We have used objects, ten squares, number lines and Numicon.

Science : We explored the school garden this week with magnifying glasses to see what plants grow in our school.

Preview (Next week)

English : We will begin to investigate who blew down the three little pigs' house and what we can do to find them.

Maths : We are continuing to look at different ways to represent numbers, but next week we will be looking at numbers 11-20.

Science : We are going to be looking at what plants we discovered in our garden and what plants need to grow.

This week, Craig Jenkins the story teller came in to tell us two different stories. One about the sun and a rooster and another about a lion and fox. We loved listening to his exciting stories.

Homework :

  • Reading book
  • Thai

Notices:

For swimming lessons, if your child does not have a school swimsuit, they must bring in a shirt as they cannot go in the pool topless due to the sun.

A reminder that if you are reading with your child at home, please can you sign their reading logs and make sure they are in school every day. Thank you very much.

Next Thursday is Wai Kru Day, which is a traditional Thai ceremony celebrating the teacher-student relationship.

Next Friday during the family morning (9-9:30), we will be demonstrating different ways to teach maths to your children if you would like to come along and watch.
