Week Five

Year One Weekly Update

Monday 24th September - Friday 28th September

Review (This week)

English : This week we have been practising our sentence writing using '-ing' words. We have made sure to check for mistakes in our work and that we have used capital letter and full stops.

Maths : We created a number fact file and have now started to add one-digit numbers together using different methods. For example, 7 + 6 = using a number line.

Science : We looked at the different parts of a plant and designed and labeled our own plant book.

Preview (Next week)

English : We will be beginning to learn to recite some familiar nursery rhymes and we will adapt some of them to make our own versions.

Maths : We will be looking at our number bonds to 10 and how we can use them to help us answer questions.

Science : Science experiment time! We are going to be predicting and testing which seed will grow best by changing the conditions of the plant pot.

STOP bullying week

This week is STOP bullying week. STOP stands for 'Start Telling Other People' and 'Several Times On Purpose'. This week has been filled with STOP bullying activities. We have learnt a song about what makes a good friend, created superhero kindness masks and made helpful hands to remind us what to do if we are feeling upset or if we see someone else feeling upset. We have also created a worry box for our classroom so that we can share anything that we feel worried about. We performed our song and story 'The Three Little Pigs' to nursery and reception.

Homework :

  • Maths sheet
  • English sheet
  • Reading books
  • Thai homework
