Week One

Year One Weekly Update

Monday 23rd April - Friday 27th April

Review (This week)

English : We have been looking at the Tiger Who Came To Tea, thinking about who we would like to invite and showing our understanding of the story.

Maths : halving and doubling have been our focus, with lots of practical activities to practise the skill.

Science : We have begun to look at our own bodies, naming and labelling body parts, and of course singing 'Head, shoulders, Knees and Toes'!

Preview (Next week)

English : We will be looking to explore related themes around the Tiger Who Came for Tea, building up to writing our own version!

Maths : We will look to build our understanding of halving and doubling, using this knowledge to explore multiplication and division

Science : We will be investigating the five senses and linking them to different parts of the body and will probably sing 'Head, shoulders, Knees and Toes' again!

Homework : A reminder that homework is available on request, please let one of the Year 1 team know if you would like your child to receive it.

Notes: A warm welcome to our newest members of Year 1, we've had a good first week, building confidence and new friendships!

We've had a few birthdays this week, which have been lovely. Having spoken to leadership, may I remind you of school policy regarding parties "Please contact the classroom teacher in advance if you wish to bring a birthday treat to be shared with the class, preferably at the end of the school day, for your child’s birthday. All treats should be capable of being easily served and consumed at school. Please provide all items required to cut, serve and share with the class. Please take into account food allergies and discuss with the class teacher ahead of time to ensure that all students can be catered for. " On a personal note, please don't bring anything that makes a noise!
