incredible inventions

We have been getting stuck into our new topic this week! Pupils shared their research homework; we have been studying new vocabulary and we have seen Tesla coils used in some very creative ways! This topic is all about creativity: just think of all of the creative ways that we already use electricity and magnets in our daily life! What else will Year 4 come up with?

What would we like to find out about electricity and magnets?

We have been enjoying our freshly painted classroom and new display spaces...now we just need to fill them up with incredible inventions!

pylon art

We looked at some artists' ideas to design electricity pylons differently and came up with our own creations:

We did a yoga session on Monday and warmed up by creating symmetrical shapes with a partner:

Maths

Year 4 did an excellent job at addition and subtraction this week! Everyone is getting much more confident at taking risks in their learning and being independent learners. We learnt about the importance of estimating when calculating and choosing appropriate methods for the calculation.

Playing chasing games to practise rounding.

Homework :

Maths - As part of World Maths Day, we have been taking part in 'Mathletics' an international online maths competition. Your child brought their log in details home on Tuesday. Well done to Marvin who made it to the Asia leader board this week with his quick maths!

English/Science -  4 different kinds of energy sheet.

We love Mathletics!
