Week Seven
Year Five Weekly Update
Monday 25th February - Friday 1st March
Review (This week)Â
English : This week in English, Year 5 reviewed their understanding of similes, metaphors and personification. In addition, they looked at abstract nouns and made planning notes for a recount of their half-term holidays.
Maths :Â This week, Year 5 began looking at decimals. They started this by identifying the place value of each number within a decimal and looked at what happened to the numbers when multiplying by powers of 10. They also compared decimals: arranging them in order from smallest to largest and placed them on number lines with different scales.
Science: This week in Science, Year 5 wrote the life cycle of a flowering plant using diagrams (please see pictures below).Â
Preview (Next week)Â

Maths :Â Next week in Maths, Year 5 will continue to focus on decimals: focusing mainly on rounding, multiplying and dividing by powers of 10 and using decimals within the 4 calculation methods.
