Year Five Weekly Update

Monday 4th June - Friday 8th June

Review (This week) 

English : This week Year 5 wrote their final recount of Chapter 17 - Crossing the River. We then wrote a report on reports, using exciting factual information and note taking around the classroom!

Maths :  Year 5 put great focus into using the chunking method and their resilience to use factors of bigger numbers was good. Also, we calculated times and divide using our knowledge of place value for whole and decimal numbers.

Science : Year 5 revised their understanding of different colours of light.

Preview (Next week) 

English :  Year are progressing towards the last part of their book Tua and the Elephant and we will write a playscript between Tua and various characters. The pupils will then act these out.

Maths :  Year 5 will revise their understanding of perimeter and area for a variety of shapes and measure angles using a protractor. 

Science : Year 5 will write a report on Light, showing their understanding of what they have learnt. 

Homework : 

-Pupils now have their myimaths login and passwords. They have one online piece to complete.

-30 minutes daily reading.

-Homework grid. (One piece).

Notices: 

-Please see our pictures practising for the International day performance. Our country is Russia and we will perform a brief play and then dance. Our final practice is on Friday. 

-PE kit on a Monday, swimming kit on a Thursday.
