Year Five Weekly Update
Monday 29th January - Friday 2nd February
Review (This week)
English : The children will be writing a recount of Chapter 3 of The Iron Man. In SPaG, we will be looking at adverbials to extend sentences, e.g. "The Iron Man stood there with an angry face".
Maths : We will be looking at equivalent fractions, simplifying fractions, fractions of amounts.
Science : Children will be writing an evaluation of the results of testing the conductivity of different materials.
Preview (Next week)
English : Next week Year 5 will complete and edit their final draft of their story extension for Chapter 3 'What's To Be Done With The Iron Man?' using an exciting intro, build-up, problem, resolution and ending.
Maths : Next week Year 5 will look at dividing and multiplying fractions and adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators.
Science : As part of our Properties of Materials topic, Year 5 will be investigating which electrical conductors make a bulb shine brightest.
Homework:
-5 maths questions. (Each child will have a challenge that is suitable to their level, they should be able to do this on their own)
-5 English skills questions. (Each child will have a challenge that is suitable to their level)
-1 Mymaths homework. (Your child should complete the lesson first and then the task.)
-1 optional activity from the homework grid. (1 piece - your child can choose 1 activity from the grid, please support your child with this if you can)
-30 minutes reading. (Please support your child with this if possible)
