Week Eight

Year Five Weekly Update

Monday Oct 9th - Friday Oct 13th

Review (This week)

English :  This week Year 5 changed their 'Jack's Date' Speaking & Listening story into a different story that has a more exciting plot and twist at the end! We also wrote instructions again this week, this time about how to eat a delicious Kit-kat.

Maths : Year 5 revised 2D and 3D shapes, looking at vertices, edges and faces as well as nets in mental maths. For Maths lessons we then looked at ordering numbers up to 1,000,000 using the < and > signs and say when  a whole number is divisible by 2, 5, 10 or 100.

Science : We then described the life processes in some plants and animals and learned how to dissect a plant to recognise its features.

Preview (Next week)

English :  Next week Year 5 will write their own persuasion text for why YOU should buy a mouth-watering Kit-Kat. We will look at imperative verbs, adverbs and how to write in paragraphs.

Maths :  In Maths Year 5 will learn different fractions that make one whole, find equivalent fractions for one-half and other equivalent fractions. Finally, each afternoon we will revise 3-d shapes and nets.

Science :  In Science we will examine different plants from plant plots and determine their features using our knowledge from previous theory work.

Homework :

Have a peaceful weekend.
