2018 Tongariro School Rippa Rugby

This is the first Tongariro School team that has attended the New Zealand Rippa Rugby Championship which is held in Wellington in September. The journey started by winning the Year 5-6 Turangi Rippa Rugby Tournament then going on to win the King Country Wide Rippa Rugby Finals Tournament in Taupo. This then qualified them to attend the Tri-angular Rippa Rugby Tournament held in Hamilton. Through focus, commitment and dedication it lead Tongariro School to beat the last years King Country Representatives Tairua School from Thames and being placed Runner-ups overall in the Year 5/6 grade. Participating in New Zealand Rippa Rugby Championship, taking the opportunity to represent Tongariro School and King Country with pride will be top of mind for these students and there will be no doubt they will be giving it all alongside them their coach Paul Hallett. All the best team.
A big thank you to Turangi Angels, The Millar Whanau, Hailey Turner, Paul Hallett, Hiki Ellis and Tongariro School for sponsoring and providing transport for the team which helped out tremendously. Also thank you to Josh Standen for presenting the team with jackets at their school assembly.

Tongariro School Cross Country 2018

Tongariro School Cross Country

A frosty start to the 31 May meant that conditions were ideal for the annual School Cross Country. Students were keen and excited to set off and with many whanau to support their runners it was a keenly fought contest for placings. Thank you to the staff and students especially those from the Services Academy who helped man checkpoints. It was a great morning with lots of smiles. I think all our students were a lot fitter this year as we completed all courses in record time. Students who achieved a top 4 placing in their age group will be travelling to Kuratau on Friday 15 June for the Interschool Cross Country and should have brought home a notice and permission slip which needs to be returned to school by Thursday 14.
