Where Excellence Is Achieved Through Each Individual's Success
Update on Fall Sports from CAS/CIAC
The CIAC has worked in collaboration with the Connecticut State Medical Society, Sports Medicine committee to develop our resocialization of athletics and activities programs guidance. Additionally, this guidance was vetted by CAPSS, CABE, CAAD, and CATA. It is emphasized in the document that this is guidance and the ultimate determination to implement any part of this is at the discretion of the superintendent.
This guidance does not change the exception for spring coaches to coach an outside team with an unlimited number of athletes from their school. This exception is only for spring coaches.
When in-person conditioning begins, all coaches will be able to run conditioning exercises for athletes. Within those conditioning exercises, skill work may be integrated. This does not permit fall or winter coaches to coach outside teams as our out-of-season coaching rules for fall and winter coaches are in effect.

CT High School Coaches Association Coach of the Year
I am excited to announce that Tolland High School Varsity Girls Soccer Coach Erin Reed has been selected by the Connecticut High School Coaches Association as Outstanding Coach of the Year for Girls Soccer.
Coach Reed will be recognized at the Aqua Turf on May 7th. Congratulations Coach Reed on this prestigious award.
Tolland Head Coach Brandon Elliott wins 2019 Cross County High School Coach of the Year
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Tolland's Brandon Elliott as winner of its fourth annual High School Coach of the Year award for cross country last Friday.
One boys coach and one girls coach from each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia were honored for their successes during the fall of 2019, as selected by a committee of experts from around the nation.
State-by-state winners were selected based on their teams’ performances throughout the 2019 cross country season. Among the factors taken into consideration were team score and placement at the state championships, margin of victory, performance against rankings if available, individual championships, and how their teams’ performances stacked up to previous years (e.g. first title in school history, consecutive titles, etc.). Elliott’s Tolland boys cross country team had nearly equal success winning the CCC, Class M and State Open championships in 2019 and then finished third at the New England Championships. Coach Elliott will receive a trophy from the USTFCCCA recognizing his achievements.
The winners from each state are in consideration for the association’s National High School Cross Country Coach of the Year award. One boys coach and one girls coach from among all the states will be selected by a panel of experts and be announced later this month as the national winners.
