What's Sato's Big Apple?
It is a sculpture made of shiny stainless steel, which is eleven feet in diameter and having 365 conic holes. Each of the holes of this gigantic Apple has reflecting bundle of light, and these lights are entering into the Apple or, perhaps, they are coming out of the core of the Apple. We believe this movement of a numerous light bundles is the most appropriate expression of the symbol of information exchange. A monument that shows a concept of an instant global connection, which each IT company has been always developing with its advanced technology.
Indeed, the movement of these bundles of light looks as if the world's information is being dispatched from New York, or New York is gathering global information from all over the world. This continual activity is a world state of affairs, and it is symbolized by the number of conic holes, which are exactly 365.
