In September 2025, the Sendai Tourism, Convention and International Association (SenTIA) and Tohoku University carried out a short-term staff exchange.
Now in its second year, this initiative aims to strengthen collaboration between Sendai City and Tohoku University in supporting foreign residents. Through mutual staff dispatches, both organizations seek to deepen their understanding of each other’s operations and further enhance the efficiency and quality of their services.
The exchange began with four staff members from Tohoku University’s International Support Center visiting the Sendai Multicultural Center (SenCUL), operated by SenTIA. There, they learned about SenCUL’s support systems and initiatives for foreign residents and participated in a discussion with SenTIA staff. The following week, four SenCUL staff members visited Tohoku University, where they learned about the university’s various support structures and services for international students and researchers.
Members from both organizations exchanged ideas and shared their perspectives.
The exchange also included on-site learning at Tohoku University’s Kawauchi Campus.
