Grades:
Each unit will have a formative assessment grade and a summative assessment grade. The formative assessment grade is the average of class assignments for that unit. The summative assessment grade is the grade you make on the unit test. Your formative assessment grade counts 50% and your summative assessment grade counts 50% of your total grade. Your final overall term grade for the first nine weeks is an average of your formative assessments and summative assessments.
If a student has received a zero due to missing work, the remediated assignment will receive 80% credit of the remediated grade.
Quizlet, GimKit and Blooket assignments can be re-attempted as many times as you want in order to get your grade as high as you want before the due date.
If a student remediates an assessment in order to improve a grade, the average of the two assessments will be entered into the gradebook.
In order to remediate an assessment grade, the student must first write down word for word all missed questions along with the correct answer for that question on a piece of paper and turn in to the teacher. The teacher will then reassign the assessment to the student at an appropriate time in class.
Zeros can be detrimental to a student’s grade. Any student scoring a zero on an assignment or assessment will be expected to complete the work for a reduced grade. Failure to complete the work may result in lunch detention, after school detention, or ISAP. These consequences, along with a conference with parents or guardians will only be used in situations where a student has been repeatedly non-compliant in completing assignments. Grade reports will be sent home with students during mid-term and every 9 weeks. Parents may check Infinite Campus for grades any time.
Classwork will consist of the following assignments:
Video questions: Each unit will be introduced with a video about the topic
Vocabulary: Each unit will have vocabulary terms in Quizlet
Notes: Could be lecture notes, guided notes or slides
Check for understanding: GimKit and/or Blooket
