Our curriculum model aims to reach every pupil within the school and balances the acquisition of knowledge with the development of key skills. It excites, inspires and motivates our pupils and staff, giving learning an engaging context whilst promoting pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. We celebrate diversity within our curriculum and make sure that every pupil in our school has a passion for learning. We are dedicated to preparing our pupils for the part they will play within the community and for life in modern Britain.

We intend our curriculum to support the Trust's ambition that we 'inspire learners and change lives'. We want to provide children with the best possible education. It is important to us that the children are happy, confident, resilient and enjoy their learning; making the most of all the opportunities we have to offer. We have developed a wider curriculum that is creative, inclusive and exciting. It provides children with a broad range of learning experiences which seek to nurture talents and acquire new skills in a hands-on and engaging way. Our curriculum is based around termly themes and enquiry questions to ensure that children are being challenged in their thinking. The school has adapted the curriculum to help reflect and represent the diversity of our pupils. Learning outside the classroom and opportunities to visit our beach are woven into the curriculum as well as our Curriculum for Life which focuses on promoting positive mental health and well-being for all. Each subject area has a subject intent, whole school policy, and an annual action plan which outlines development opportunities and clearly links with the school development plan.

Our pedagogical model provides a consistent approach to teaching and learning in our classrooms. We ensure that all our classrooms are effective learning environments and that they promote independent learning. Our curriculum is based on good quality resources. English is taught through quality whole class texts, and Maths is taught through Mathematics Mastery, with empirical mathematical props used every lesson. Teachers consistently use hiqh quality questioning and are continuously assessing the learning through ‘Circulate, Check, React’ which is our Assessment for Learning approach. We have high expectations of all our pupils and provide challenge through all aspects of our curriculum.

It is our aim for all children to have a deeper understanding of the world around them and to become responsible and caring citizens of the future by knowing more and remembering more. We ensure that all learning is purposeful and linked to children's own experiences so they are engaged, challenged and become highly effective problem solvers and communicators.
