Art

Curriculum Intent

We believe that students' imagination should be engaged in order to encourage resilience and self-expression. Students study art and design through personalised projects which aim to build their confidence through risk taking, experimenting and exploring ideas. As well as giving students a sense of individual identity, the art curriculum aims to develop critical thinking and the ability to interpret the world around us.

The art department at Havant Academy is well-equipped with provision for working in a range of media including painting and drawing, printmaking, clay and resistant materials as well as ICT. The department has an impressive collection of books and resources, covering the development of art and design from cave painting to the present day.
