World Book Day 2022

As usual World Book Day has been a fantastic day at Tithe Farm! Our day focused on poetry and was jam-packed with reading delights. The day started with an assembly and a very strange creature accompanied Mrs Worsfold who read 'Tryannosaurus Drip' by Julia Donaldson. Luckily the dinosaur turned out to be Mrs Langford dressed up!

All children took part in a workshop with a real life author and illustrator. This was an amazing experience which allowed the children to pick up some top writing tips and also hear and see what this job would entail.

Insatiable Readers

Reading is a key skill. At school we place a high emphasis on the teaching of reading. Our aim is for our children to leave Tithe Farm as competent readers who can use books not only to learn from but also to be transported on amazing adventures. As insatiable readers, our children will have a desire to read not because they are told they have to but because they want to. Please support us at home with this by speaking positively about reading and sharing books with your children.

Attendance

Attendance has picked up since half term which has been excellent to see. It is crucial that your children are in school everyday so that they don't miss out their learning. The picture to the left, shows you how the percentages equate to actual days lost.

This half term we will be having 'Hot Spot' awards. At random points during the week, we will check e attendance - the highest class or classes will earn themselves 10 minutes extra playtime.

We will continue to announce the highest attending class each week in our celebration assembly and any class who has 100% all week, will have hot chocolate to celebrate.

Celebrations

Stars of the week: Mercedez (5) and Matteo (1)

Attendance: Garnet 100%

House Points: Smile (1,469)

Double World Millionaire: Yannis (5)

Fountain pens: Daria (4) and Jennifer (4)

Word of the Week

This week's word of the week: dubious

Mrs Worsfold was dubious about whether the plan would work.

Next week's word of the week: impeccable

When the children have been coming into the hall for assembly, their behaviour has been impeccable. As I have mentioned previously, we are now working on impeccable behaviour moving around the building at lunch time and playtime.

Street Tag Team

The Street Tag app is proving to be very successful! For the last 2 weeks we have remained at the top of the leader board; when I last checked we had over 600,000 points! If you haven't join yet please scan the QR code and get converting your steps into points which will ultimately lead to prizes for the school!

Nursery Visit the Zoo

Nursery had a fabulous visit to Whipsnade zoo on Wednesday. The visit was to support their learning. They saw so many fantastic animals. I am sure that if your child went you have heard all about them!

Russia/Ukraine Conflict

We are aware that some children and parents will be concerned about the current situation in the news.

The link below is not specifically about this war but is a useful support if children are worried about what they have seen on the news:

The teachers will be sensitively and at a child appropriate level, following up any concerns the children may have over the next few weeks.
