Dear TISPC community,
This week, we are delighted to celebrate the achievements of our learners on both the national and international stage as we reflect on the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards Ceremony hosted at TISPC. With four prestigious awards achieved by our students, it was a proud moment not only for the award recipients and their families but for our entire school community. Their success is a testament to the dedication, perseverance and ambition that we strive to nurture in every learner.
Across the school, we share examples of how learning and professional growth continue to thrive within our community. From the collaboration between our Primary and Secondary English teams to teacher development opportunities through our partnership with Taylor's University, we remain committed to continuously improving the learning experiences we provide. We also celebrate the appointment of our new CAmbassadors, recognising students who have demonstrated leadership potential and a commitment to supporting the wellbeing of their peers. In this edition, we are proud to share Taylor's Group's Teachers of Taylor's: Legacy & Experience feature, in which one of our own teachers has been recognised across the group for their dedication, expertise and lasting impact on student learning.
In secondary, students continue to explore their interests and develop new skills through opportunities such as the Lifehacker Club, while creative expression and gratitude are showcased through the Cards from the Heart Father's Day project. In primary, our youngest learners proudly share their learning through the Early Years My Toy Shop Exit Point, demonstrating confidence, creativity and growing independence. We also reflect on a recent Parent Coffee Morning, where families experienced mathematics through the eyes of a child and explored the value of hands-on learning in developing mathematical understanding.
Finally, we encourage all families to take note of the important notices included in this edition, including the Bus and Cafeteria Satisfaction Surveys and information regarding the upcoming Arrowheads Skills Holiday Camp.
A reminder that the week commencing Monday 15th June will be a two day school week, with students attending school on Monday and Tuesday only. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of that week will be school holidays.
Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership and support.
Best wishes,
Jane
On 23rd May, we were delighted to host the prestigious Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards Ceremony, organised by Cambridge International Education. The event brought together students, families and educators from across Malaysia to celebrate exceptional achievement in the November 2025 Cambridge examination series.
At the heart of the celebration were our remarkable learners, whose hard work, perseverance and commitment to excellence have earned recognition at both national and international levels. We are incredibly proud to congratulate:
Top in the World
Eliam – Mathematics
Vianne – Design & Technology
Top in Malaysia
Benjamin – Physical Education
Eliam – Accounting
These awards reflect years of dedication, resilience and a willingness to embrace challenges while striving for personal excellence. To be recognised among the highest-performing Cambridge learners in the world and in Malaysia is an extraordinary accomplishment and one that should inspire our entire school community.
What stood out most during the ceremony was hearing our students reflect on the people and experiences that have shaped their success. Benjamin spoke about the encouragement and guidance he received from his teachers, particularly Mr Zul, whose support helped him achieve his full potential in Physical Education. Vianne shared how the positive relationships she built with teachers gave her the confidence to ask questions, take risks and grow as a learner. Eliam highlighted the importance of being surrounded by ambitious peers and expressed gratitude to his teachers and parents for continuously motivating him to aim higher.
Their reflections serve as a reminder that outstanding achievement is built upon curiosity, determination, strong relationships and a genuine love of learning. It was equally heartening to hear parents speak about the confidence, independence and character their children have developed throughout their educational journey.
A special performance by Ailsa added to the celebratory atmosphere and showcased the breadth of talent within our school community.
We extend our warmest congratulations to all award recipients. Their achievements exemplify the values of aspiration, perseverance and excellence that we seek to nurture in every learner. We look forward to seeing what they accomplish next as they continue their journeys with confidence, purpose and ambition.
This week, Ms Kerrie, Assistant Head of Teaching and Learning, had the pleasure of bringing together two of the school's English leaders to further strengthen the learning journey for our students. Mr Sean, Head of English in Primary, shared exciting developments within the primary English programme, designed to foster curiosity, encourage deeper thinking and inspire a lifelong love of reading. Ms Jessica, Head of English in Secondary, contributed her extensive curriculum expertise and experience in preparing students for Cambridge IGCSE English.
Together, the team explored ways to strengthen the transition from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 3, ensuring greater continuity in curriculum content, reading experiences and writing expectations. Discussions centred on how students can build confidently on the skills, knowledge and enthusiasm for English developed in Primary as they move into Secondary.
By working collaboratively across phases, we aim to provide a seamless learning experience that supports both academic success and personal growth. This partnership represents an exciting step towards ensuring consistency, high expectations and enriching opportunities for all learners throughout their English journey.
This month, we were delighted to host Dr Vino and her class of trainee teachers from Taylor's University. These eager Master's level students visited to learn about the delivery of the British curriculum and how our school approaches planning and content to engage learners from Primary to Secondary.
The day kicked off with a welcome from Ms Kerrie, Assistant Head of Teaching and Learning, followed by a dynamic introduction from our Head of English, Ms Jessica. Our secondary session featured detailed insights from our other talented heads of departments; Ms Boey, Ms Sherry, and Mr Albert, as well as a wonderful presentation on integrating digital technology into the curriculum by Ms Pavi. Mr Ryan concluded the secondary segment with an insightful talk on the future of education in Malaysia, using our school as a model.
After lunch, our primary team led by Ms Patricia and Ms Jasmine, took over to discuss the IPC, English national curriculum levels and primary delivery. They emphasised the power of student engagement, diverse content and the vital importance of creating a nurturing environment where students are ready to learn.
Special thanks to all of our incredible presenters: Mr Ryan, Ms Pavi, Mr Albert, Ms Boey, Ms Jessica, Ms Sherry, Ms Patricia and Ms Jasmine.
On 22nd May, we proudly celebrated the appointment of our new CAmbassadors, who received their official badges following a rigorous selection and assessment process.
The CAmbassador programme, led by the Counselling Department, develops students' leadership, communication and peer support skills, empowering them to make a positive difference within the school community. Through training and ongoing development, CAmbassadors learn how to support their peers, promote wellbeing and serve as approachable role models for others.
Receiving the CAmbassador badge is about much more than recognition. It represents a commitment to leadership, responsibility, service and integrity. These students have demonstrated the qualities needed to be trusted peer leaders and ambassadors for our school values.
Congratulations to all of our newly appointed CAmbassadors. We look forward to seeing the positive impact you will have as you lead with empathy, resilience and a genuine commitment to supporting others.
As part of the Taylor's Education Group's Teachers of Taylor’s campaign, celebrating Legacy & Experience, we are proud to recognise Ms. Haliza, a dedicated secondary PE Teacher whose passion for education and student development continues to leave a lasting impact.
Throughout her years with Taylor’s, Ms. Haliza has embraced every opportunity to learn, grow and inspire others. Supported by a strong professional community, she has developed both as an educator and sports coach, delivering engaging and meaningful learning experiences for her students.
Her commitment, adaptability and unwavering dedication exemplify the values of Taylor’s and continue to enrich our school community.
The LifeHacker Club recently conducted an exciting and hands-on Fruit Cutting Skills session. Throughout the activity, students were introduced to important food preparation skills, including personal hygiene, proper fruit cleaning, safe peeling techniques and cutting methods. Before handling any food, students learned the importance of washing their hands, cleaning preparation surfaces and handling utensils safely to maintain good hygiene standards.
The room was filled with a fresh fruity aroma while students practised peeling, slicing and cutting a variety of fruits such as apples, oranges, kiwi, dragon fruit and mangoes. It was wonderful to see students striving, developing confidence and improving their hand coordination throughout the cutting session. The session provided students with a valuable opportunity to apply everyday life skills in a safe and guided way. It was especially heartwarming to see older students guiding and teaching the younger students how to cut and prepare the fruits correctly after the demonstration by the teacher.
This Fruit Cutting Skills session will also continue as part of an ongoing learning journey within the LifeHacker Club’s plan. Future sessions will build on the cutting skills learned and introduce students to preparing healthy fruit salads and fruit smoothies. They are already looking forward to applying their newly developed skills in the upcoming activities. The session ended with students and teachers sharing and enjoying the cut fruits together, as well as sharing one thing they have learned during the activity.
A big thank you to Ms Sharon and Ms Kohgi for organising such a meaningful and enjoyable session that allowed students to learn through hands-on experiences while building independence, and practical life skills for the future.
Students from the Arts and Craft Secondary CCA recently participated in a meaningful Father’s Day activity by creating handmade cards for their beloved fathers. Using colourful papers, decorations, and creative designs, students carefully crafted cards filled with appreciation and heartfelt messages. The activity provided an opportunity for students to express their love and gratitude in a thoughtful and personal way.
Throughout the session, students demonstrated creativity, patience and enthusiasm while working on their unique card designs. Many students enjoyed sharing ideas with their friends and experimenting with different artistic techniques to make their cards extra special. The classroom was filled with excitement and laughter as students proudly showcased their completed creations.
This activity not only encouraged artistic expression but also reminded students about the importance of family appreciation and meaningful gestures. Through activities such as this, the Arts and Craft CCA continues to nurture creativity, teamwork and positive values among students. The handmade cards served as a simple yet heartfelt way for students to celebrate and honour their fathers on this special occasion.
What an absolutely incredible day we had celebrating our "My Toy Shop" Exit Point! Our Early Years classrooms turned into a bustling, student-led arcade where we got to celebrate so much learning, creativity and confidence with our families. The learning journey began weeks ago as the children used recycled materials to design and create their own interactive games like Ring Toss, Paper Plane Toss, Mini Golf, Ball Toss, Hopscotch, and traditional games, including Congkak, while also developing their literacy skills by learning to write simple instructions. Before the main event, we invited the Year 1 students over, giving our little ones a wonderful peer-to-peer learning opportunity to guide visitors around and practise explaining the rules. When the Exit Point day arrived, the children confidently took centre stage as teachers for their parents and families, demonstrating their games, speaking proudly, and sharing their entire process through our Learning Walk display. Thank you so much to all the families who joined us to cheer on our amazing learners and make this unforgettable day such a beautiful celebration of learning!
On Friday 29th May, we hosted an exciting Parent Coffee Morning titled "Hands-on learning in Maths through the eyes of a child." As a White Rose Education Champion School, we loved showing families how we make math meaningful and engaging for our students.
The White Rose Approach: Aligned with the English National Curriculum, this programme breaks math concepts down into "small steps" to deeply embed understanding and build student confidence.
The CPA Method: Parents explored how children learn by moving from Concrete (handling physical objects), to Pictorial (using visual drawings and bar models), and finally to Abstract (solving equations with numbers and symbols).
Interactive Workshops: Parents visited hands-on stations for KS1, Lower KS2, and Upper KS2 to experience exactly how their children use these tools in the classroom.
We highly encourage parents to utilise the school's digital subscriptions, NumBots and Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS), to practice core skills.
Additionally, you can download free Home Learning Books directly from the White Rose Education website. Simply navigate to the Parents & Pupils section, click Home learning, and select your child's year group scheme.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for a fantastic morning of collaborative learning!
We’re always looking for ways to improve our school transport, and your feedback plays a big role. This short survey is designed to:
Measure your satisfaction with the current bus service
Collect helpful feedback for our bus operators
Support decisions that improve the overall bus experience
Your input will help us make the service safer, smoother and more reliable for all students. Please complete the survey by Friday 12th June, 12 noon. Thank you for taking a few minutes to share your thoughts!
We would like to gather feedback from you regarding the school cafeteria services, including food quality, portion sizes, variety of food choices, pricing, cleanliness and overall dining experience. Your opinions and suggestions are important and will help the school and cafeteria team to improve the services provided to you.
Please answer the questions honestly based on your personal experience. There are no right or wrong answers — we simply want to understand your views and preferences better.
We appreciate your participation and thank you for helping us create a better cafeteria experience for everyone. Please complete the survey by Friday 12th June, 12 noon. Internally, we will run this survey at school for students respond.
