While we are working on new developments (we will shortly share), we are also actively working on improving our current TimeSpots. One of the most visible changes is the lighting. Setting the scene at sunset rather than in the middle of the day creates richer shadows and colours.
Here we take a degree of artistic freedom. Our assumption is that the processions would most likely have taken place in the morning, benefiting from beautiful early light. However, at that time the sun would be behind the Propylaea, leaving us and much of the procession largely in shadow. We therefore apply a subtle artistic adjustment, allowing everyone to experience the Panathenaic procession in a way that feels closer to how it might have been perceived by ancient Greeks and Romans.
