Early Years

Early years at Palgrave

Here at Palgrave we believe every child is unique and our aim is to provide children with first hand learning experiences rooted in purposeful play in which they can become actively engaged, expressing thoughts, ideas and feelings.

We will nurture and support all of our children to ensure they all grow into curious and confident young people. We believe in the immense potential of each of our young learners and we are committed to giving them every opportunity to succeed.

Children are born curious and they are drawn to learning and we will build our curriculum around developing this disposition and allowing being curious to develop deeper levels of understanding.

Developing children’s confidence and self-esteem is crucial to their development.

It is important to get to know the children as individuals and build positive relationships with them so that they feel safe to explore and express themselves within the environment.

Each child as an individual

Every child is special, with unique combinations of abilities and needs that affect learning. And all children deserve the opportunity to learn in ways that make the most of their strengths and help them overcome their weaknesses.

At Palgrave we follow the children’s own individual interests and build these into their learning.

Parent/school relationships

An effective partnership based upon open communication between parents, children and members of staff is an essential ingredient for happiness and success.

In class 1 we run reading café’s once every term where we invite parents and carers into the classroom to share a story and work with the children.
