PE and Swimming
In July 2019 we were awarded a Gold School Games Mark in recognition of our commitment to sport and PE and the development of competition across our school and wider community.
P.E. & Swimming
Physical education inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically demanding activities. It provides opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.
Our Physical Education curriculum develops the children’s strength, stamina and co-ordination. We encourage positive attitudes to personal health, sportsmanship and emphasise safety issues. These activities include gymnastics, games, athletics, dance and swimming. We support inter-schools sports events e.g. football, rugby, hockey, cross-country, rounders, swimming and netball.
The national curriculum for physical education aims for all pupils to: -
- develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities
- be physically active for sustained periods of time
- engage in competitive sports and activities
- lead healthy, active lives
