Get Active and Keep Healthy

In July we had our first ever ‘Get Active, Keep Healthy’ week which was full of exciting things for all the children to do.

The week included specialist coaches of tennis, netball, dance and cricket coming into our school and spending some time with the children, teaching them aspects of their specialism. During the week all children enjoyed cooking a healthy meal or snack - including healthy pizzas and chicken fajitas. Another visitor spoke to the children about healthy lunchboxes and how to make good food and drink choices . On Friday, the children visited six different World Cup countries and enjoyed an aspect from them all. Some children tried new foods, while others made Brazilian carnival masks and some even took part in a Croatian dance.

Throughout the week pupils have been taking part in mindfulness activities such as meditation and yoga. Mindfulness is an important way of keeping our minds healthy.

The week ended with parents coming in to participate in a variety of active games which can be enjoyed with their children in the future - these were lead by our very able Sports Leaders. One pupil said, “It was great to get more active as well as having fun with my friends.” Another pupil stated, “The week has been pleasant for all.”

Thank you to everyone who helped and supported in any way.
