At Gislingham, we take a holistic approach wherever possible when teaching and promoting the fundamental British values of democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance for those with different faiths and beliefs. British values are embedded and lived through our school’s ethos and values.
We believe that it is crucial for our pupils to develop and demonstrate skills and attitudes that will allow them to participate fully in, and contribute positively to, life in modern Britain. All curriculum areas, as well as collective worship and whole school systems and structures, provide a vehicle for furthering understanding of these values. We make considerable efforts to ensure pupils have exposure to a wide range of experiences, including beyond their local community, and these experiences along with educational visits, visiting speakers and sporting events allow these principles to be further explored.
