BYLAW I
Name and Purpose
Section 01. Toe name of this chapter shall be the Tidehaven Olapter of the National Honor Society of Secondary Schools.

Selectlon·of Members
Section 01. The selection of members of the Tldehaven Chapter of the National Honor Society shall be by a majority vote of the five-member faculty council.
Section 02. Formerly, sophomores co'uld·tielnducted, but now no students below the status of a junior may be Inducted. We changed this to raise the level of maturity and responsibility amohg NFIS members.
Section 03. candidates must have a cumulatlve scholastic grade average of at least 92.
Section 04. The faculty council shall tlieA require the completion of the Student Activity I nformation.form. The.fatulty-touhtll shall assume that a candidate who

Section OS. A list of candidates shali'tiieri.becomplied and submitted to the

Section 06. candidates for membership shall be notified in writing. They must respond to thfs notificatio·nby"slgnfng"c1 sta ement, which explalns the obllgattons· of a member of the National Honor Society. This form requires the signature of a parent
Section 07. Initiation must now be during the first semester. Since sophomores can not be inducted, the juniors must be indicted as quickly as possible so that they may fulfill their quote of service hours.
BYLAW III
Dismissal of Members
Section 01. Member who fall below the standards, which were the basis for their selection, shall be promptly warned in writing by the chapter adviser. In the case of flagrant violations of school rules for civil laws, the member shall be dismissed lmmealately: -·· - - .:r.- · · ·

Section 06. A member who has been dismissed may appeal the decision of the faculty councll according to the appeals process of the Tidehaven Independent School District. ,,.•
Section 07. Any member who is dfsmissed from the chapter shall return their membershlp card and emblem.

Chapter Activities
Section 01. The chapter shall determine its yearly seivlce projects at the first
meeting of the year.
Sectlon 02. Each member shall select a personal project, which is to be compIeted during the school year. Completion forms must be submitted to the chapter secretary at the early due date.

Officers.
Section 01. The office of reporter has been eliminated. The reporter's duties now belong to the secretary,·an=d.the dfflces of sectary and treasurer are· -·· separate. This revision was made to equal out the workload and responsibilities among the officers.

Section 04:· The vice-president shall preside in the absence of the president. ·
Section OS. The chapter secretary shall keep the minutes of meetings, a record of all business, a record qf all Individual. service projects and the completion
forms, the membership attendance record, and all records on file. The secretary
shall also provide the local news media with·information of the activities of this chapter.

Section 06. The chapter treasurer sharl receive and disburse all funds of the chapter and keep and accurate account of receipts and disbursements in accordance with school organizations.
Section 07. The parliamentarian shall keep order in all meetings.
BYIAWVI
Meetings
Section 01. The regular meetings of this chapter shall be held as needed during the school year on days designated by the advisors and approved by the principal. This includes all Mid-Coast Association of National Honor Societies' meeting of the year.
Section 02. The officers of the chapter shall be elected at the first regular meeting of the year.
Section 03. Special meetings, approved by the advisors, may be called by the president.
Section 04. All meetings shall be open meetings and shall be held under the sponsorship of the advisors or a member of the faculty council.
Section 05, This chapter shall conduct its meetings according to Robert's Rules of Order, Newly Revised in all points not expressly provided for in the constitution of this chapter.
BYLAW VII
Dues and Fund Raising
Sections 01. Each member of this chapter shall contribute annually a sum, not
to exceed fifteen dollars ($15.00).
Section 02. Fund raising activities in which the chapter may engage must be approved by the principal prior to the activity.

a. Practice will be held during third period on Monday, November 8th

I. Call to Order
a. The meeting was called to order at 7:45 am by Kinsley Simons
II. Roll Call
a. Members initialed on a sheet of paper to be signed in. After the meeting, Mrs. Yoxtheimer counted that 23/32 members were present.
III. Old Business
a. President Kinsley Simons announced the officers’ positions as follows:
i. President: Kinsley Simons
ii. Vice President: Hailey Irizarry
iii. Secretary: Mykela Mayo
iv. Treasurer: Natalie Ledwig
v. Parliamentarian: Taylor Rickaway
b. President Kinsley Simons congratulated all of the new members for their achievement.
IV. New Business
a. Overview
i. President Kinsley Simons told the new members that NHS was a group of community service and that the accomplishment to be inducted into this organization was something to be proud of.
b. Projected Projects
i. Members decided that they would like to volunteer at a homeless shelter for their Christmas project
ii. If that is not possible, they decided to do a blanket drive
iii. The next blood drive is set for January 26, 2021
1. Simons discussed how the blood drive works and what to expect
2. Previous members were informed of the ways they could make up their un-earned hours from the last drive:
a. Fall Festival in Blessing
b. Sign up extra people for next drive
iv. The adopt a highway contract starts in December. We will work at least one Saturday next semester.
c. NHS Dues
i. NHS dues will be $15 and will be due on December 3, 2021
d. NHS Shirt
i. The second shirt option was decided by a popular vote.
ii. Shirts will be $15 and anyone can buy them
iii. Shirt money will be due November 17, 2021
e. Induction
i. Everyone was reminded that induction is on Monday
ii. Everyone made sure they were signed up for a food item
iii. Everyone was also reminded of practice on Monday during 3rd period
1. An email will be sent out and you will check in
f. Communication
i. All members were reminded to make sure they are in the group chat or to see Mykela Mayo
g. Reminders
i. Everyone was reminded to study and memorize the pledge to the Society.
h. Adjournment
