Aquatic Science / AP Environmental Science / Administrative Intern

Develop projects and engaging lessons for an unusual mix of gifted, inclusion, and general education students in 11th and 12th grade, all within the same laboratory classroom.

  • Teacher of the Year Finalist 2016-2017
  • Invited to train first-year secondary science teachers for LISD in 2016
  • Committee member of BLT, SEL, PAWS, PEP, and RTI
  • Sponsor of Wildlife Conservation Society and co-facilitator of Peer Cheer (student-led club mentoring fellow students)
  • Attended many extracurricular student events (prom, sports, plays, shows, graduation, and more)

Complete administrative internship with Gary Shafferman. My project highlights include:

  • Create and design 8 professional development sessions of a book study/Twitter Chat for entire staff - #mhsabc
  • Developed a 15-min student tutorial program over Social-Emotional Learning that was implemented with the entire student body
  • Designed and illustrated unique rogue’s gallery of teachers to improve relations
  • Created and distributed uniform door signs for improved identification of rooms and teachers
  • Recruited a dozen local businesses as vendors for, and helped plan, Healthy Kids, Healthy Families event
  • Collect and analyze data to coordinate campus focus on extracurricular clubs and honor societies, improving MHS website information
  • Updated PEP website
  • Designed/presented the Technology information session for Parent Technology night
  • Served on planning committee for TEDx event, communicating with feeder school principals and local businesses
  • Increase college awareness by installing more than 30 different college banners in hallways
  • Design and complete an action research project as part of LISD leadership cohort
  • Speaker on LISD’s 2017 ePortfolio video presented to the School Board
