A) Application Procedures and Admission Logistics
What is the ratio of the admission of PE to VA students?
There is no fixed ratio of PE to VA students. The actual intake ratio may depend on the number of applications received. In recent years, the ratio of PE to VA students admitted was around 2:1.
Can an applicant apply for both PE and VA streams at the same time? Once admitted or during the course of studies, is it possible to apply for switching from PE major to VA major or vice versa?
Applicants can only apply for either the PE stream or VA stream. Only in very special situations can the admitted students change their stream of study.
Do applicants need to attach all certificates and/or proof of achievements in PE/VA to the application form?
Applicants only need to submit certificates/proof of achievements of the past three years.
I have already submitted the application form. Can I submit updated/additional information?
Before the deadline of application, you can submit updated information (e.g. report cards) not available at the time of submission of your application.
Will parents be interviewed?
Parents may be interviewed during the Second Interview.
Do I need to choose your school in the “Central Allocation” stage of the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System?
Our school does not participate in the "Central Allocation" stage of the current SSPA System.
Will the school accept applications after the announcement of the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) results in July?
It depends on the situation of registration. We may have a few places open for application.
B) Academics 學術
Students have to put in much time and effort to develop their talents in PE/VA. Do they have less homework/tests when compared with other schools in HK?
Students have to strike a balance between their academic studies and the development of their PE/VA talent.
Will the standard for promotion be lowered for students with excellent performance or achievements in PE/VA? Will students' PE/VA performance/achievements affect their promotion?
The overall performance in ALL subjects (including the performance in assignment submission) is included in our promotion criteria.
Do students need to study HKDSE PE/VA as a compulsory subject in senior forms?
PE/VA is a compulsory subject from F.1 to F.3 only. Students can choose HKDSE PE/VA as one of the elective subjects in senior forms.
C) Physical Education 體育
Will the type of sports affect the priority for admission?
Type of sports will not affect the priority for admission.
Can students enroll in more than one sports team?
Some students may join more than one sports team if they can maintain a good academic standard.
Can students switch to another sports team after being enrolled?
A variety of sports will be included as part of our PE (Major) curriculum. Students can switch to another sports team only after careful assessments by the concerned PE teachers and coaches.
If I don't know how to swim, will I be considered?
Swimming is not required for admission. Swimming will be taught in our PE curriculum.
Will there be selection for school teams?
Yes, selections will be arranged at the beginning of the school year.
What if my external training clashes with the school team training?
Teachers will try to coordinate the timing and address the conflicts between external training and school team training.
Will there be allowance for absence due to elite athlete training or overseas competitions?
A special elite athlete program is available to cater for the needs of these students. Special arrangements will be made to help them catch up with their studies during and after their absence. These elite athlete students must put in extra effort in attaining a balance.
D) Visual Arts 視覺藝術
Will the types of art specialty affect the priority for admission?
The art specialty of the applicant will not affect the priority for admission.
Are prizes and awards in external competitions required for admission?
Prizes and awards only serve as part of the reference in our consideration for admission. Applicants have to show their interests and talents in Visual Arts during selection.
Are there any school teams / special training for external art competitions?
Students are encouraged to participate in various art -related extra-curricular activities to enrich their exposure. Teachers will offer guidance and advice to students participating in external competitions.
E) Dormitory 宿舍
What are the criteria for admission to the dormitory? Will cross-border students or geographically-distant students have guaranteed places?
Committed to fostering whole-person development of students, boarders are selected primarily according to their attitudes and personal qualities, as well as their eagerness for improvement. Their specific needs for boarding, along with their commuting time, will be taken into consideration.
Are boarders allowed to stay over weekends or long holidays? What is the annual boarding period or duration?
In normal circumstances, boarders need to go home and enjoy time with their family over weekends and during school holidays. They can stay in the dormitory during school days. Discretion will be given in special cases. An academic year, from September to June, is considered as a complete term in the dormitory, with the first half-month of July as an optional additional period.
How much is the dormitory fee? Is there any financial assistance?
The current dormitory fee is $50,000 per year (payable in 10 monthly instalments), with meals, air-conditioning and laundry expenses included. Students with difficulties may apply for financial assistance.
F) Others 其它
Will other talents (e.g. Music) be considered in the assessment during admission? Can applicants demonstrate other talents or skills during the interview?
In addition to sports and arts, we welcome and encourage students to develop other talents for their personal enrichment and to broaden their horizons. However, due to the limitation of time, there is no need to showcase these talents in the interviews.
Do students need to stay on campus for lunch?
F.1 and F.2 students have lunch on school campus. They may participate in some tailor-made lunch programmes.
Once admitted, do students need to attend summer bridging programme?
Successful applicants need to attend a summer bridging programme (around 1 week) in August, so as to allow them to blend in smoothly with their new secondary school life in Ti-I.
