A: I'm so glad that you're here, and actually this program has remarkable results on improving mood. A lot of the things that you're going to do throughout the program hopefully will bring major shifts in your mood symptoms.
As for reducing antidepressants or thyroid medications you may want to work on both with your practitioner. I don't recommend stopping either of those cold turkey. I used to work with psychiatrists that would wean people off of psychiatric medications such as antidepressants and SSRIs, and typically you’d want to reduce the meds maybe by 10 to 25% at a time under the supervision of your practitioner.
The same goes for thyroid medications. You want to wean off those gradually with a practitioner. Also, with thyroid medications, the adjustments are guided by your labs, such as your TSH and free T4, free T3. Whereas with antidepressants you would be more guided by your symptoms.
Definitely, a lot of people have a resolution of depression. We also have some people whose thyroid function improves throughout the program. Myo-inositol is one of the nutrients that we use throughout the program, along with blood sugar balancing strategies, Saccharomyces boulardii, and other methods that we use in the program; all these thing can also help increase thyroid medication absorption and in some cases can make the thyroid come back online. So, this is definitely a possibility. Actually, I have a warning in the program for people to make sure that they monitor their thyroid function throughout the program in case they don't need as much thyroid medication after implementing all these changes. Of course, you want to adjust the dose under the supervision of your doctor.
