Welcome to Year 3!
I hope you all had a wonderful summer and that the children enjoyed a well-deserved rest. They've made a fantastic start to the new school year and are settling in very well.
Below, you’ll find an overview of what we’ll be covering during the Autumn term.

As readers and writers, we will read and explore a range of fiction and non-fiction texts. We will continue to focus on our comprehension skills in order to develop our understanding of a text. Within our writing, we will develop our use of vocabulary and sentence structure. We will explore ways to make our writing more imaginative and interesting for the reader.

As mathematicians, we will learn strategies to solve mental and written calculations for addition and subtraction. We will continue to develop an understanding of place value, including identifying hundreds, tens and ones in two and three-digit numbers.

We are continuing our drive to encourage more children to read for pleasure. Research shows a positive link between reading frequency and enjoyment and educational attainment. Please continue to support your child by reading with them daily and asking them questions about what they have read. This will help to support their comprehension skills.
